2012 Second half Recap:
The highlights of this year include helping my Uncle Ron
build his stilt house in Marathon. Ron was born in 1926, doing the math will
have you amazed to discover that this guy was well into this construction
project by himself when I sent the guys down to pitch in. At 80 plus, he is a
freak of nature and had already dug a trench in the solid coral with a pick axe,
set and poured the cement structure and begun framing this waterfront dream
home. He worked the guys (30 years his junior) until they begged for mercy (cervassa).
They helped him for a few months, and Aunt Johnny and Uncle Ron love their sky
high place on the ocean.
Speaking of octogenarians, RC’s mother spent some time
with us. She twisted with Chubby Checker, and gambled the night away on a
cruise to Freeport. They are our heroes!
